Welcome to my corner of the internet!#

Greetings fellow traveler! Salutations! Callooh! Callay!

My name is Nathan Barry. I’m a CS graduate student at UT Austin and am interested in systems and machine learning. I love working on hard problems with great people. Occasionally, I write about things that interest me.

Below are some of the things I’ve been doing.

Life#

Outside of school and work, I enjoy reading, pickleball, badminton, climbing, pool, and playing the guitar!

I think that the spirit of my life philosophy is tersely captured by the quote below, which I came across in the book The Empire of Pain.

“I believe that a man should strive for only one thing in life, and that is to have a touch of greatness” — Félix Martí-Ibáñez

While the previous quote expresses the grand and aspirational, the following gives the humbling required dose of conscientiousness.

“The thoughts of others
  Were light and fleeting,
Of lovers’ meeting
  Or luck or fame.
Mine were of trouble
  And mine were steady;
So I was ready
  When trouble came.” — A.E. Housman

Throughout the years, I’ve tried to collect and curate pieces of text I enjoy.
